Daihatsu cars in Myanmar Car Market: Review

Known for their expertise in building small, efficient and affordable city cars, Daihatsu has taken Japan’s Kei-car culture to a different league internationally. The company is now a subsidiary of Toyota, which has only helped to improve the marque’s already solid reputation as a maker of robust, efficient and reliable small cars that work perfectly as city runabouts. In Myanmar, Daihatsu city cars are well-known and loved as much as the Toyota models, but with more affordable prices.

Daihatsu: Performance and Technology

Daihatsu is one of the few car manufacturing companies that came into being directly as a result of technology developed in an educational institution. The origins of Daihatsu’s birth are tied to the development of a gasoline-powered engine at the University of Osaka for utilization in small stationary power plants. Indeed, in the beginning Daihatsu fabricated cars that only ran on gasoline-based fuels. Daihatsu Diesel Motor Manufacturing Company was founded in 1961 for marine engines and diesel generators production and since then Daihatsu is producing both diesel and petrol-based vehicles.

On the engine front, Daihatsu has a solid reputation for building small, efficient engines. They are fuel efficient, reliable, and durable. Despite being small in displacement (most engines are either 660cc or 1000cc, and are 3-cylinder units), they are little engines that are willing to take up a lot of revs, and propel the cars along as nippy city cars. Fuel efficiency, eagerness and reliability of the engines make the Daihatsu one of the best brands of city car in the world.

Daihatsu also excels in putting a lot of technology into use within the cabin to make the driving experience a pleasant and high-tech one. New Daihatsus, for example, come with high-end stereos, electric windows, cruise control, GPS Navigation System and other exclusive amenities expected from premium vehicles.

4). Its mid-size engine is a RWD.

5). Initially available in 2-cylinder models, Daihatsu Hijet's later generations come equipped with 3-cylinder models.

The Daihatsu Move is a subcompact kei car, one of the rare Daihatsu vehicles designed by an Italian designer. Indeed, Daihatsu invited famous Italian designer, Giorgetto Giugiaro to design this vehicle. Giugiario was named the “Car designer of the Century” and was inducted in the “Automobile Hall of Fame” in 2002. His design improved upon that of the Daihatsu Cuore by elevating the roof. It resembles a little bit the design developed by Suzuki for their Wagon series of vehicles. Another important design feature is the access to the storage in the back. Unlike other Daihatsu models that have a vertical hatch at the rear, Daihatsu Move has a door with hinges to the right edge which gives access to the storage space.
