The name Mercedes has been transcribed in Myanmar to mean distinctive wealth and prestige. The Benz auto market, however, is changing nowadays. Mercedes ownership is becoming increasingly accessible due to the influx of cheaper, used imports from Japan. Some older models from the Japanese auction market can still cost as much as 500L Kyats for a 1990s model.
Performance & technology
Being the first brand to produce the very first car in the world when Daimler started manufacturing in 1901, Mercedes-Benz has an advantage over the other car manufacturers in good will, sophistication and technology. Renowned and appreciated for their high-end comfort and luxury, as well as modern technology, the Benz name is regularly applauded by car experts to be the most advanced, even at the elite level. Mercedes Benz produces vans, trucks and buses aside from cars. Both petrol and diesel engine are available within the brand and lately Mercedes also started manufacturing electric vehicles using the fuel-cells. Many of the features we see in today’s cars such as power steering, power windows, sunroofs etc were first introduced by Mercedes Benz as luxury features in their vehicles.

S-Class: Probably the most well known and the most elegant of all the Mercedes Benz models, the S-class is a luxury sedan known for its sleek, smooth design and extraordinary performance. The S-class was first introduced in 1954 and it is still going strong.

Availability of Mercedes-Benz in Myanmar
The newest models of Mercedes-Benz are also making their way to Myanmar. Mercedes already has a showroom and service center open in Yangon for purchases and servicing. This means that people now have access to newer versions and not just the imported used models coming in from the Japanese auction market. Another perks of having Showroom and Service Center is that many now have access to a Mercedes specialized auto technician who is able to solve advanced problems normal mechanics couldn't, due to the requirement of specialized car parts. Many normal service centers are not able to repair modern day Mercedes-Benz cars. This goes for a range of potential problems from body damage to on-board technological devices meaning few are fully capable of maintaining them. Mercedes is now also training more technicians to be fully qualified to repair the Benz cars. A brand new model of Mercedes-Benz can cost as much as 2000L Kyats.
With the slogan "Das Beste oder nichts" (translation: "The best or nothing"), Mercedes-Benz is part of the "German Big 3" luxury automakers.
